Sharing my Model for a Day experience!
Now that I am back to Newfoundland and back to my regular life with work and kids it is nice to have a chance to reflect and write about my experience at The Shopping Channel and to share it all with the followers of The Shopping Channel Blog and Facebook page. My visit to The Shopping Channel was definitely one of the more memorable experiences of my life. Other than perhaps my wedding day, I have never felt more like a princess, or a celebrity!
From the moment I walked in the door I felt like I was at home. Everyone knew my name and was so excited for me. The people at The Shopping Channel are among the friendliest bunch I’ve ever met. The greeting at the door was amazing …. very unexpected. I spent that first afternoon trying on the Brian Bailey fashions that I would be modelling the next day, and meeting just about everyone in the building! Then we were treated to a wonderful meal at The Keg, followed by a relaxing evening at the hotel getting prepared for the next day.
To say that the day of the show was a whirlwind is an understatement. I was so nervous going on air but the Carol, Sandy Savelli and Brian Bailey were amazing. They were so funny and had me giggling the whole time before we went on air which totally relaxed me, thank goodness!
Then it was off for hair and make-up at Donato’s Salon where they made me look like movie star. The rest of the day was a blur of excitement and fun. The lovely ladies who model the clothes every day were also a great bunch to work with. They welcomed me into the dressing room and into their working space just like I’d been there all along. They taught me how walk and turn and shared their mother’s fudge! Thank you all so much….I had such a great time.
And Brian Bailey deserves a paragraph all to himself. He was wonderful! He’s just as silly off camera as he is on. He completely absorbed any nervousness I had about being in front of the camera. I absolutely loved working with Brian and his clothes are amazing quality and fit. Brian, if you ever do a show over here on the East Coast look me up!!!!
Thank you to everyone at The Shopping Channel who made the Model for a Day contest such a fantastic experience for me. I will never forget it. And to anyone out there who was thinking of applying for the contest, or will consider it next year, you should definitely go for it…..it’s a blast!

Model for a Day Reviews: Pur Minerals
I finally bought my first Pur Minerals Today’s Showstopper from The Shopping Channel about two years ago, after YEARS of my mom urging me to try it. My skin is acne-prone and slightly sensitive. Even though I was using anti-acne skincare at that time, I was still having frequent breakouts, and figured it might be due to the makeup I was wearing.
I remember when I first used the 4-in-1 Pressed Powder - everything Joli Baker said would happen, actually happened! It covered imperfections on my face, old acne scars, and the darkness under my eyes. And best of all, my skin stopped breaking out so much. It feels so light on your face you forget you’re even wearing it, I just love the 4-in-1 Pressed Powder.
The eye shadows, eyeliners, mascara and lip gloss are all AMAZING products, I love every product I’ve tried.
I urge anyone who has never used Pur Minerals to try this line, and pick them up at The Shopping Channel. The Today’s Showstopper has a lot of great products and will give you a good introduction to the line. I am sure you will become hooked on this makeup line like me and thousands of other ladies across Canada!
One more quick point! I wore Pur Minerals make-up on my wedding day – the 4-in-1 Pressed Powder, eye shadows, eye liner, blush, mascara, and lip gloss. My husband Carl & got married in Cuba and I thought that standing in the 40 degree heat would result in my face “melting”. The makeup lasted the ENTIRE DAY, through sweat and tears!
