Spring trend spotting with Flare Magazine’s Tammy Palmer
This season, the quickest way to add a dash of style to your everyday look is with an oversized jeweled necklace. It instantly dresses up your shirts and blouses and will take a simple frock from day to night.
Bags continue to be a must, but for Spring it’s less about the ‘it’ bag and more about picking a piece that works for your lifestyle. Handheld clutches marry well with suits and party frocks while the hands free over the body satchel is the epitome of urban cool.
Looking forward to blogging more about Spring trends and to my next appearance on The Shopping Channel’s Fashion Views show on March 19th!

Bringing my favourite fashion trends to The Shopping Channel
From the Paris, Milan, and NYC catwalks here are a few of my favorite trends for the season and must-haves for your closet.
Be sure to tune in to The Shopping Channel’s Fashions Views show tonight at 7:30PM ET where myself, Brian Bailey and Guillaume Poupart will be chatting about all things fashion and trading our favourite trends for Fall ‘08.
Sculpture
Designers fell in love with all things architectural, a nod to technique and luxury. Everything from voluminous ruffled cocktail dresses, full sleeve jackets to high-waisted full cropped pants- choose one and make a statement.
Embellishment
Sparkle never seems to go away. Look for sequined blazer style jackets, vests and little skirts and feathers and fringe adorning skirts and jackets. A safe and easy route is a hit of shine on your LBD (little black dress).
Menswear
It was a hit across the catwalks- slouchy mannish trousers, tuxedo jackets and oversized longish blazers which launched the current craze of blazer as topper with the sleeves pushed up for a tough cool girl look.
Layering
It’s the modern way to dress- think tees under cardigans under jackets under toppers. Choose pieces that are less structured for more interest such as wraps, capes, midcalf sarong skirts and palazzo pants. A belt is the must-have accessory to cinch in all the volume.
Eighties Redux
It’s a street influence - think London punk with edgy blazers, graphic print tees, skinny pants and loads of chains. The multi-strand necklace with an everyday tee to a great leather vest atop a jersey pullover will get the look.
