The Shopping Channel says good-bye to Carol
The Shopping Channel’s Director of Broadcast Operations, Hugh Wilson, TV Hosts Norm Murray, Greta Culliford and Betty-Jean Allison, Carol’s daughter and many friends from across The Shopping Channel came out to send off Carol Fysh.
After 12 wonderful years at The Shopping Channel, Carol signed off on her final show yesterday afternoon. We wish Carol all the best on her future endeavors and adventures. Good luck Carol, we will miss you!
Saying good-bye after 12 great years
Never being one to sit still, I have decided to follow my dream. After twelve fantastic years with The Shopping Channel, tomorrow will be my last day as one of your TV Hosts.
It was a very emotional decision, as I don’t remember once saying to myself “I don’t want to go to work today”. My journey through The Shopping Channel years has been so rewarding … friendship, trust, teamwork, the importance of communication, and the courage to seek one’s potential, as scary as it may be, are a few of the things I shall carry with me on my new venture.
Though I will miss my colleagues on a daily basis, I wish to thank you, our viewers, for your support all these years. For without you, we are not a shopping channel at all.
Let’s start each day by saying “dance like no one is watching, sing like no one is listening, love like you have never been hurt, and live like it is heaven on earth.”
With love and best wishes,
Carol Fysh
TV Hosts Carol & Renee share thoughts about Mother’s Day
Leading up to our Mother’s Day Weekend (May 8 to 10), I asked some of our TV Host Moms to share their thoughts about what the big day means to them. We’d love to hear your thoughts as well. Feel free to share your special Mom memories by clicking on the Comments link below.
As we get older, I realize more and more how fast the years go by. As my mother took such good care of me growing up, I know there will be a time where it will my turn to take care of her. And with the good memories I have of growing up, I only pray that my children have warm memories too. Mother’s Day is a time of reflection. Of being grateful for the good times we have shared.
My kids are 25 and 23 and are planning to leave the nest soon and as they plan, I want them to always remember I am here for them. For my mother and my children, and to my grandmother who has passed on, my life is so much more fulfilling thanks to them.
Wishing all Moms a special day,
Carol
Being a good mom is the thing in life I am most proud of. I have three beautiful daughters and they keep me going even in the worst of times. Simple things they do can bring you such joy.
This is my first Mother’s Day being a single mom. I hope I am setting a good example for my daughters and showing them that their mother is strong and, no matter what, will always be there for them. They, above anything else, are the loves of my life. I plan to spend the day with them and eat whatever weird concoction they bring me for breakfast in bed. I’ll have Gravol standing by.
Happy Mother’s Day to you,
Renee
A fundraising event close to everyone’s hearts
Earlier this week, my husband Brian and I attended the 8th annual Eat Your Heart Out Fundraiser, at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. All proceeds benefitted the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Me with my husband Brian Fysh, radio announcer for Rogers 680 News (my right), and the evening’s emcee, Darren Osborne from CHFI 98.1
The Shopping Channel was gracious to donate various door prizes including the Ab Roller and some very lovely Elizabeth Grant gift baskets. The fabulous food was provided by some of the local area’s finest chefs in a charming marche-style setting. The evening was hopping thanks to live music played by Jazzy Knights.
A good night had by all, for a great cause.

Me with the Eat Your Heart Out Event Chairperson, Ida Vito

What’s on The Shopping Channel TV Hosts’ holiday wish list?
Here at The Shopping Channel, all is a buzz with Holiday shopping. With less than two weeks left until Christmas, we’re in the exciting position of bringing you those all-important perfect final gift ideas while picking out our own presents for loved ones and making final additions to our own wish lists. We caught up with some of our TV Hosts to take a peek at what they are wishing for this Christmas.

If Santa’s elves are wondering what to get me this year, my list is only three items long. A large flat screen TV would be awesome, of course! Also I’ve had my eye on the HomeSuite Faux Sherpa Throw (in chocolate please) as well as the J.A. Henckels 8-Piece Knife Set.

We have acquired a piano from my kids’ uncle. It looks lovely sitting in the dining room, but no one in our family really knows how to play. I have asked Santa for some music books to teach myself to play the piano. As we get older, we realize how quickly the years do go by. I have always wanted to learn to play - now is the time!

My wish list is all about decorating our new home this holiday season. I would love the Tiffany Style Amanda Floor Lamp - its honey warm glow would set such a romantic mood in our living room at night. I also think a 42″ LCD TV from LG would be a sexy finishing touch to our bedroom wall - perfect for snuggling up to a great old movie. Now that would be for Thomas too, so does that mean I get one more special gift for me? How about a handbag, no .. LOTS of handbags, one in every colour!
May all your Holiday wishes come true!
