Step inside Flare’s fashion closet

Our friends at FLARE Magazine gave us an exclusive peek into their fashion closet. Assistant Fashion News Editor, Mosha Lundström Halbert, shares her top trends for Spring 2011.

Join The Shopping Channel for Canadian Designer Week, March 21 - 25. Presented by FLARE Magazine, Canada’s fashion magazine featuring the hottest in fashion and style by Canadian and international designers. Canadian fashion darlings David Dixon, Wayne Clarke, Monika Schnarre and Brian Bailey will all be here, presenting their newest collections.

Colour, inspiration & must-haves for spring

Spring Trends: Colour is all around! I’m always inspired by colour and this Spring I am really excited about coral. My Picture Perfect Dress (in coral) really set the mood for my entire collection this year. This season you’ll see other fun colours too. We’re coming out of a recession and a drab winter and, so, I think people will really want a splash of colour in their wardrobe — pink, teal, purple — bring it on!

My Spring Collection is whimsical aligned with the must-have-basics for Spring. In my opinion, everyone should have a white jean, wrap blouse and a cardigan in their wardrobe … mix with that some colourful dresses, a cream suit and you’re set for the season!

My Advice: Don’t ever worry about the size of a garment. Worry about the fit. If you try to squeeze into a size six and you’re really a size ten… it doesn’t work! It will be more flattering on you if you buy the size that fits you best or slightly bigger. And best of all? You’ll look slimmer!

I hope you love my new collection and that it inspires you for the season ahead!
Much love,
Monika

ET Canada goes backstage at The Shopping Channel

The secret is out! The Shopping Channel is THE place to find, shop & show love for our amazingly-talented Canadian fashion designers.

We joined the team from Entertainment Tonight Canada, lead by Producer Angela Smith, as they interviewed Lucian Matis and Monika Schnarre at our studios in January.

Monika & Lucian shared insights about breaking into the Canadian fashion industry and the many, many pros of selling their designs to Canadians coast-to-coast on The Shopping Channel.

Look for the ET Canada segment to go to air within the next couple of weeks. We’ll let you know as soon as the date has been confirmed! In the meantime, here are some photos from the shoot:

Go glam for the Holidays with help from Wayne Clark

Canadian fashion design legend Wayne Clark makes glamour easily attainable with his selection of apparel & accessories. With a few key pieces, you can elevate your style factor and have Holiday party looks ready to go.

We love …

Red is a key colour for Holiday 2009, and this elegant Bamboo Scoop Neck Top with Faux Shawl does this rich hue justice. Also choose from black, chocolate & purple. Pair it with the black pants or black skirt you already have in your closet for an instant Holiday outfit.

Don’t ignore the power of accessories. Even if you’re a minimalist at heart, adding a single crystal bracelet to an all-black outfit will instantly ramp up your style quotient. Wayne has an amazing selection of crystal bracelets & cuffs.

Fun & elegant, this Feathered Collar is a great alternative to a statement necklace. Picture yourself walking into a Holiday party with this gracing framing your face. Gorgeous!
