Director of Marketing
Michael is the Director of Marketing for The Shopping Channel, and along with a super team of dedicated marketing professionals is responsible for customer acquisition, retention and brand development for all media including television, digital and print.
Armed with a B.A. from Carleton University and a M.B.A. from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, Michael established his expertise in product and marketing management at Black & Decker, made his move into the virtual world when he joined Levi Strauss & Co. Canada, and worked at Hudson's Bay Company as a Director in their CRM practice as well as orchestrating Hbc's online strategy. Most recently, Michael was General Manager/Director of Shopping for CanWest Interactive, a division of CanWest Mediaworks Publications Inc.
In addition to his responsibilities at The Shopping Channel, Michael was a committee member of The Sick Kids Foundation Digital Advisory Council in Toronto, and is an active member of the Canadian Marketing Association, including co-chairing the 2005/2006 Digital Marketing Conference. He most recently moderated a panel on eCommerce in Canada at the Canada Post-Direct Catalogue Council, and was a keynote speaker in 2005/2006. In 2007 he moderated a panel at the Retail Council of Canada's annual Store conference and was a panelist at the Direct Marketing Association of Toronto's SpringBoard Direct Marketing Conference. Michael was also Special Closing Session keynote speaker at the 17th Canadian National Database Marketing Conference in Toronto, a speaker at the Intercontinental Group of Department Stores 2004 Loyalty Marketing Conference in Stockholm, Sweden, and keynote presenter at the Association for the Advancement of Relationship Marketing, spring 2004 Conference in Toronto. Michael has appeared as a guest lecturer at the Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto), the Schulich School of Business (York University), the Ryerson School of Retail Management and most recently at the John Molson School of Business (Concordia University).
What does Michael love to shop for the most? All things from the electronics category of course, plus several great buys from the Outdoor category (watching my back yard flowers explode after using RootBlast this year!) and a not-so-secret passion for very certain lines within the Beauty category that help hold back the ravages of time!
