Kendra Francis

Biography

Born and raised in Toronto, Kendra Francis is known for a signature style of sharp tailoring and sexy femininity.

Kendra's skills and keen eye for fit is her forte. As a result of having parents who new how to tailor, Kendra began her career at the age of 13 and was self-taught by the time she began her studies in Fashion Design at Ryerson University.

Having found success as a fashion model and accolades as a stylist for TV, music and celebrities, Francis created one of a kind pieces for an 'in the know' clientele of Toronto's 'It Girls' and celebrities.

In 2001 Kendra Francis launched her own fashion house under the label FRANKE and opened the much-lauded Franke Boutique in one of Toronto's trendiest neighborhoods, West Queen West. Francis' SS04 collection, during Toronto's LFW, consolidated her reputation as one of Toronto's hottest and respected designers.

The Franke label is the go-to label for edgy glamour and chic party dresses. "I am very much a women's designer" says Francis, "as a tall and skinny teenager I made a lot of my clothes, that's how I learned fit, as a stylist I learned exactly what stylish women want to wear and as a woman... I know how we want to feel."

Francis closed the boutique in 2005 in order to have the freedom to go international and in 2007 was chosen as one of the 12 finalists in Canada's premier season of Project Runway Canada.

For Fall 2008, Kendra Francis collaborated with award winning director RT! to create her first fashion film. Partnering with MySpace, it premiered on MySpace Canada's Fashion page. Her celebrity clientele includes, Sarah Polley, Chantale Kreviazuk, Amerie, Natalie Brown (CBC's Sophie), Yaya Dacosta and Nic Pace (ANTM) and Sarah Taylor and Hannah Simone (Much Music)
