Hello, Kim here to tell you about one of my favorite Canada Day memories and about the Kim & Co. Today’s Showstopper for Canada Day 2011. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to be there but having known Sandie Savelli for years I know she will be as fabulous as always and will represent us well.

Canada Day 1967 - I remember it like it was yesterday. My parents took my sister Leslie, brother John and I to Expo 67! My mom was 6 months pregnant with my twin brothers Wally and Michael, so I guess in a way they were there too. I remember wearing my favorite yellow printed sleeveless square neck dress. Even back then I loved my dresses. My mom had to fight with me to take them off at night because if it was up to me I would have slept in them.

Today I sit in my kitchen with my mom reminiscing about those days. She is quick to remind me how much she loved to dress me as a little girl. Who would have imagined back then that years later I would be the one dressing her! She adores the Today’s Showstopper Maxi Dress. She raves about how comfortable it is and has even asked me for another one in a different color / print. Sorry mom, there’s none left!

How did the Kim & Co. Maxi Dress come to be? Well, while on vacation in Nice, the South of France, back in 2009 I picked up a sleeveless v-neck Maxi Dress! I wore it from the beach in the afternoon with flip flops, right into the casino in Monaco that evening. Being a designer I was inspired. I got home and brought the dress right to the office saying “we have to make a Maxi Dress!” So started a new era for Kim & Co. as the Maxi Dresses took off!

Father’s Day 2011 - So there I was with the 7 different colorways of the dress trying to decide which one to wear to brunch. Once again my mother was trying to dress me. She got so excited that she insisted on taking pictures of me in each dress. Trying them all on again, each one had a different mood and attitude yet all had the same carefree, comfortable feeling.

Being an international label, it is an honor and privilege to bring you a Canadian designed and produced Today’s Showstopper. I hope you love it as much as we do here at Kim & Co. wishing you all a wonderful time celebrating Canada’s birthday. I can’t wait to be back with you on August 17^th.
