Follow my “I’m worth it!” promise & progress
Over the past 3 years my weight has been on a rollercoaster ride. As viewers, you have watched my weight go from 134lbs to 102lbs and back up again. We all have our own stories and stresses in life that effect how we feel and look. I thought I would share my story to encourage others to take time for themselves and realize they are worth it.
Late in 2007 I began an intense workout program to try to get my body back in shape. I saw amazing results and was motivated to keep working hard. The only issue was that I was doing this program while going through a very emotional time in my life. I was trying to lose weight and make changes for someone else, not for myself. I dropped to a dangerously low weight of 102 lbs and was not eating enough to sustain that kind of workout program. Stress had me skipping meals and not sleeping. After finally losing weight, I found myself being pressured to gain weight.
In the summer of 2008 my life underwent incredible change and I found myself a single mom of three daughters. I struggled with learning to balance everything life was throwing at me. I was overwhelmed and the first thing to go was my workout time. I was averaging 5 hours of sleep a night. I started to pack the pounds back on and I could not understand why. I am not a big eater - in fact eat quiet healthy. My weight was back up, my clothes were too tight and I felt awful.
I started getting tests done and after months of consulting with my doctor, I found out that my body and hormones were all out of whack. Lack of sleep and exercise were the main contributors.
So here I am now. I have learned to balance better and am in a happy place in my life. I am making changes and making time for me again. I realized that in order for me to be there for others, I also have to take care of myself.
I made an on-air commitment to Marjolein Brugman from AeroPilates to give myself two months of eating right and Pilates. I’d love to share this journey with you. I will be logging everything I am doing and keep you up-to-date on my progress.
Yes, I will even share my weight and measurements! I’m trying to lose 15 lbs, but most of all my goal is to have my clothes feel better on and get myself feeling good again. I hope you will join me and make time for yourself. We have excellent products and experts here at The Shopping Channel. Find something that works for you and commit.
Let’s do it together. We are all worth it.

Maybe I should start too, I have the Pilates machine collecting dust in the spare room. I’ll take my measurements and post. A little accountability would help me. Good Luck, Renee!
Way to go Renee–I myself have been on that same roller coaster~~With stress, comes weight gain–I have been so stressed this past year, and Just started to exercise for myself again. I jog in the early morning, Monday-Friday, and just started to feel a bit better about myself. My weight loss goal is to lose 30 lbs. I hope I can do it, and wish you all the best in your journey too!! Take Care, and put yourself FIRST!!

Just about an hour ago, I totally did not want to do my exercises, due to being tired, but I remembered how you said you were doing it for you, which inspired me to get my butt moving–THANKS RENEE!!!!!
I wanted to say thank you Sue and Tara for your words of encouragement. Tara you motivated me on Sunday after reading your post to not let my crazy weekend get in the way of my workout. I hosted my daughters volleyball team party Saturday which included a sleepover and Sunday I was tired. Lying on the couch was looking good but I made that the reward after the workout. P.S. I also stayed away from the cake.
Renee, I know how you feel, been there, done that and have the t shirt’s to prove it. I once weighed (not that long ago) almost 300 lbs and have lost almost 200 lbs over the last few years. Trust me if I can loose weight anyone can. A good diet and the proper exercise are the most important things to remember. And remember this life is too short to sweat the big stuff and just tell yourself that you can and will do this for yourself and for your children. GOOD LUCK!!!
Renee, I’ve been there too, twice! I must admit I did notice a difference in you over the past couple of years. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I felt something. I am so sorry you had and have to go through this major life change, but, I know in the end, things will work out. It is great you now believe in yourself and are on the road to a happier tomorrow and your children will also benefit by having a strong, healthy Mom!
