LOULOU Magazine’s beauty trend-spotting for Summer 2009

Not surprisingly, the sun-kissed glow is an uber hot look this summer. Tanning as we all know is a big no-no, but there are abundant amounts of bronzing products and faux tanners that can help you achieve a beautiful golden glow. When applying faux tanners, always remember to exfoliate and scrub first! It may seem like a simple first step, but surprisingly many forget. Rough skin (e.g. ankles, knees, elbow and wrists) has a tendency to turn too dark.

Bronzer is a daily part of my make-up routine (and I apply it all year, not just in the summer). This summer it also happens to be one of the hottest hues—from metallic eyes, to shimmer cheeks and lips. Applied to the lips it looks elegant and fresh. Applied as an all-over glow, it gives a soft, refined, halo-like finish. To achieve the latter without looking like an orange clown, remember to apply where the sun would hit you naturally: cheekbones, bridge of your nose, forehead and décolleté.

If my hair is anything like yours, the summer combo of sun-salt-chlorine means it needs extra loving care. One of my favorites is Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment. It makes my hair look silky and shiny—not to mention the delightfully, yummy smell!
